All of the Sudden

November 2, 2009 at 1:23 pm (Fall 2009, Life, School, Spring 2010) (, , , , )

Why is it that all of the sudden I have sooooooo much stuff I need to do for school????

  • Papers for current classes.  I have 4 that need written (two by tomorrow), and one to be revised.
  • Extension for one of my classes (let’s just hope my dear advisor remembered this…. sigh)
  • Evaluation for one of my classes (next month, but its fast approaching)
  • Application for graduation (yikes! already???)
  • Application to the Master’s program
  • Transcript request for a couple scholarships.
  • Registration for next semester
  • Contracts for next semester.  I’m all set with one, with another my proposed mentor (teacher) is checking if he is allowed to mentor my class and for the third my proposed mentor hasn’t replied to my email…. Yikes!
  • Research paper approval (luckily this doesn’t need to be in until April….)

So, in an effort to keep caught up, I am working off both my computers at the same time (and you don’t even want to know how many programs I am running on each computer….)

Good news, bad news

July 16, 2009 at 9:12 pm (Fun Stuff, Issues, Life, School, Summer 2009) (, , , , , )

Orthopedic appointment was bad.  He couldn’t see any problems with the articular cartilage on the MRI, so decided to try a cortisone injection.  I can’t remember the last time I was in this much pain 😦  But, he said that in a month we could reevaluate for another scope to clear out scar tissue and look directly at the articular cartilage.

But, while in Phoenix, we went to the Apple store and I got my new laptop (15 inch Macbook Pro).  And because I’m a student, it came with a new iPod touch and printer.

And, I got officially accepted into my degree program,  Yay.  Well, it’s pending copies of my official transcripts, but those are on order…

Oh, and sorry for not writing as much recently, there just hasn’t been that much going on around here…

Gahhh I Hate School

February 19, 2009 at 1:24 am (Life, School) (, , )

Ok maybe not school, but the classes, the people in the classes, and more often it seems, everything else.

There is one person on particular (who I wrote about last semester) who is just so annoying. He has this obnoxious habit of thinking I like to chat before class – like it’s really his business if I think I passed last weeks test (which I did). There are just some people who should go sit in a dark closet and never come out.

I guess my classes are ok. But none of then are really that interesting or fun… Four weeks down, eight to go…

As for the rest of life. Nothing is fun. I never seem to see my family, and when I do everyone is busy or stressed or has something else they need to be doing. I never see my boyfriend, ’cause his new job has him working 2 nights and 5 days a week most weeks. Starting college has pretty much ruined my friendships with my three closest friends.

I think I am so in need of a vacation. New Zealand is still very high on my list. I also think it would be fun to take a trip to some place tropical. And of course, I wouldn’t say no to going back to Alaska. Besides, I just found out that Royal Caribbean cruise line has ice rinks on all their ships! Can you imagine snorkeling with sea turtles all day and then doing ice skating on a gently rocking ship? Sounds wonderful to me. Spring break is in four weeks, maybe I should go somewhere then…

A hard semester

February 18, 2009 at 2:50 am (Issues, Life, School, Spring 2009) (, , , , )

So far, this semester has been really hard.  Not that the content of any of my classes is all that challenging, in fact most of it is quite dull, and I already know the material.  On top of that, life just seems to be really stressful recently.  Since I decided to just finish my BA, I’ve been more focused on what that will look like rather than the classes I am currently taking.  I also just don’t like the people in my classes.  Not living in the dorms means that I really don’t ever see any of them (which is fine with me), but I also tend not to approach people all that often.  But, most of the time that works for me.  Anyway, tomorrow, I’m tutoring another student in Photoshop… So we’ll see how that goes…

December 11, 2008 at 5:01 pm (Fall 2008, School, Winter Break) (, , , )

Today (or tomorrow, depending on when I turn in the last few assignments) is the last day of the semester (thank goodness!). Three of my classes are completely done, and the two online classes are just about done too. Overall, this semester has been fine. A little boring, really easy, but all necessary for graduation.
Anyway, but school has this wonderfully excessive winter break. December 12 through January 21. Yay! 6 wonderful weeks where I don’t have to write papers or do quizes, or anything! Though… why the semester begins on a Wednesday is beyond me…
Plus, its supposed to snow this weekend! Yay!

Hello world!

August 9, 2008 at 9:01 pm (Fall 2008, School) (, , , , )

Hello.  Over the past several months, I have been maintaining a blog about my family’s year hosting an exchange student from Russia.  And I’ve had a lot of fun (maybe I just like writing about myself…).  So I have decided that as the end of my adventures are in sight (2 years and counting!), that would be a topic worth chronicling.

I am a 19 year old Administration of Justice/Public Safety major.  I will be starting my second year in 2 weeks.  My first two years are at my local community college getting an associates degree in Administration of Justice.  After I graduate from that program (Dec ’09) I will be transferring to Alexandria Tech in Minnesota where I hope to get my Minnesota Peace Officer Certification by July ’10.

This semester I am enrolled in 5 classes: Choir, Human Biology (ewww), Substance Abuse/Psychology, Juvenile Justice, and Criminal Investigations.

I’m not sure what this blog will turn into, but like I said I like writing about myself so I’m sure you can count on something…
