Thank you all for your support. There were over 250 teams with over 5000 walkers. $130,000 was raised, and they are still collecting donations with a goal of reaching $200,000 by November 20 (www.zoowalk.org)

Here are a few of my 500  pictures from the day.

October 21, 2008 at 9:36 pm (Fall 2008, Life, School) (, , , , )

I do love Christmas music; it is just so much fun.  Especially when you play christmas music like this:

But thats a different story…  This time of year choirs, orchestras, and bands all over begin to rehears their holiday music. And it really is just so much fun. In choir, we’ve started working on of christmas music, and the whole choir just seems so much more lively and festive.

ΦΘΚ Phi Theta Kappa

October 16, 2008 at 6:36 pm (Fall 2008, School) (, , , )

Yesterday, I got an invitation from my school to join Phi Theta Kappa (or ΦΘΚ if you actually use the greek letters), which is the international honors society of two year colleges (its like PBK, but is for two rather than four year programs).  It seems kinda neat.  They do various activities throughout the year (like a children’s book drive, bowl for kids, give the gift of sight, and so on), you get access to different scholarships, your membership is included on transcripts, resumes, and degrees, and (the best part – I think) you get to wear the gold and blue stole and cord at graduation.  See:

Anyway, there is an information meeting in a week or so, so I guess its something I could look into…

Blah….

October 12, 2008 at 7:11 pm (Fall 2008, Life, School) (, , , )

I am sooooooo hating school this week…… I have so much due this week, but I am so easily distracted…

Due this week:

Monday – nothing

Tuesday – no class (yay!)

Wednesday – summary of a supreme court case

Thursday – Quiz, report

Friday – 2 reviews, a quiz, 2 science labs, a self evaluation, and an essay

Saturday – Paper

Not to mention that I can’t do much today (choir concert and exchange sister’s birthday) or tomorrow (out of town).  And then add to that writing in my blog, browsing the internet, playing with my dogs, pursuing my new found interest of Combined Driving, cleaning the ferret cage, the list just goes on………….

Autism Research

October 2, 2008 at 7:34 am (Life) (, , , , , )

Hello Readers…

I’ve written about this before, but as the date approaches, I’ll write about it again.

In two and a half weeks I’ll be participating in the annual ZooWalk for Autism Research.  I am doing this because I think it is an important issue that not enough people are aware of.  However my primary interest lies in my cousin, Seth’s, struggles with autism.

Autism impacts the lives 1 in 150 American children (or roughly 1 in 7 families) and yet there is so little known about how or why or what can be done about this condition.

So, if you can spare a few dollars, please consider donating it to autism research.  The link is https://www.ariautism.com/zoowalk/phoenix/teams/Seth’s_Ponies.html

Thank you.
